The Story Of How It All Began

Mike Decker, born and raised in Luxembourg, grew up in Bascharage with three siblings. From a young age, he showed a strong entrepreneurial spirit, always interested in buying, selling, and building things.

Growing the business

Mike began participating in art fairs, gradually making connections and gaining visibility in Luxembourg’s art and antique scene. His dedication and expertise helped him grow the business steadily over the years.

A Store in Luxembourg City

In 1999, Mike Decker opened a new store at 14 rue Beaumont in Luxembourg City. This marked a major milestone — his store quickly became a known destination for collectors and art lovers alike.

A New Generation Joins the Story

In 2000, his daughter Christine was born. Growing up, she was regularly exposed to the world of antiques — whether sitting at auctions, visiting art museums, or spending time in her father’s store and workshop. Without realizing it, she developed a solid understanding of the trade and became interested in collecting herself.

Decades of Dedication

For many years, Mike balanced art fairs, gallery visits, and the daily rhythm of store life. This period was marked by consistency, dedication, and a growing base of loyal customers.

Turning Challenges into Opportunity

During the pandemic in 2020, while many businesses downsized, Mike made a bold move: he relocated to a larger space at 22 Rue Beaumont, leaving the original store behind. At the same time, he launched one of his most successful and beloved projects:
The Hertz Pop-Up, a pop-up bar, in collaboration with Vis-à-Vis, filled with handpicked pieces that drew in a new audience and gave the business a fresh burst of visibility.
